Feelin' dirty? Need some soap?

Happy Friday all!  I'm home with my girls today and I couldn't be happier about it!  We have nothing planned, which really is the best kind of day in my opinion.  I am hoping to get down to my craft room though!  :-)

So, I'm really excited for today's post!  You may have seen this before, I saw it here awhile back and thought it was just the cutest idea!  I make these all the time, for our house and for gifts.  I try to keep these bottles on hand and I can whip one of these up for a gift in a pinch!
Buy one of these cheapy bottle of soaps at Wally Mart, mine was 98 cents...
Peel the label off.  You can always use some goo gone if there's some sticky left on the surface.
Pick out a rub on that goes with your theme...
Um, rub it on.
Add yourself some coordinating ribbon... (dang it, now that is cute)
And stick her in your bathroom!  How easy is that?

I hope you enjoyed my soapy Friday!  Do you guys have big plans for the weekend?  We have our postponed Halloween party going on and we'll see what else comes up.  Thanks for stopping by today!

How do you feel about purple and red?

I'm going to share a little secret with you... I have never been a big fan of purple.  Until the last couple of years.  One of the things I love about this craft of ours, is all the ways you can grow as a person.  Even if it's something as simple as liking purple!  Today's card is a fun 4" circle in purple!
Here's a close up of the little ensemble!  Haha!

So, what's up for your Thursday?  We have Abie's parent teacher conference today and she's out of school for the next two days!  Woo hoo!  Have a great Thursday friends!

Delivery!

Happy hump day everyone!  I just love Wednesday, it's the halfway point.  A sign that we're almost there, you know, to the weekend.  This Wednesday is particularly exciting because I'm only working a half day and going to Abie's party at school, which is always a good time!  Do you guys have any big plans for this fabulous Wednesday?
I have a confession to make.  I love Papertrey Ink.  I love their customer service, design team, products, colors, stamps, quality, basically everything!  I placed an order with their last release and it was delivered on Saturday.  Oh happy day!  Can you just imagine my excitement?  Husband gone + new box of craft goodies + Saturday afternoon = pure joy!  So, do you wanna see what I got?

Here's the precious box.  It's just like Christmas, right?
Aaaahhhh!  I get so excited when I open that box the first time!  Look at all my new goodies!!!!!
Simply Chartreuse buttons.  Their buttons are an awesome deal.  $5 for a bag and you get a ton!  I love their buttons!
This is one of their new colors, Blueberry Sky.  Isn't it pretty?  Great for winter projects but I think it will be awesome for spring and summer too!
This is the other new color they released this month, Pinefeather.  It's a really dark green.  The buttons are gorgeous! Now I think this is definitely more of a winter color.  Can't you just picture this with cream?  Mmm.
This is the stamp set I bought this month, On Ice.  How much fun is this?  Those little rectangles are socks that fit on top of the skates.  Lovin' the font on the sentiments too!
How about this?  This is the coordinating die for the above stamp set!  So you stamp your skate and then cut it out, perfectly, every time!  Can't wait to use this!!!!
Now these were what I was really most excited for this month!  Limitless Layers dies.  Aren't they lovely?  Have you seen those Martha Stewart doilies?  The little ones?  That's why I wanted these, so I could make my own!
Here's a picture of the PTI die next to the Martha doily just so you can see a difference in size.
And, here's a picture of the PTI die on top of the Martha doily, for reference.

Aaahh, what a great delivery it was Saturday.  What great things do you have coming in the mail that you're excited about?

Round and round and round....

Good Tuesday morning to you!  Did your Monday go by as fast as mine?  The day flew here and the night went even faster.  I was hoping to get into my craft room last night, but it didn't happen.  I mopped the kitchen floor instead.  Aaahhh, what a glamorous life I lead.

On board today I have another 4x81/2 card to share.  A couple of weeks ago when I was strolling through the Dollar Tree, picking up the bubbles, I happened to look across the aisle and saw a card that looked very similar to this one.  I thought, well dang I could make that.  So I did!
This came together so quick.  I used my 3/4" (I think that's how big it is) circle punch and punched out a bunch of patterned paper circles.  Then, I picked out several small stamps and stamped them on different colors of pink cardstock and punched those out.  I adhered them to the card base, added my sentiment and voila, all done!
Here's a close up of the sentiment.

This card was pretty fun to make, and so easy and quick!  Hope you all have a great Wednesday!  See ya later, thanks for stopping by today!

Monday Funday!

Yes it's Monday.  Yes the weekend is over.  Yes I have to go back to work today.  But, once we get through today, it will be Tuesday!  My husband gets home early on Monday night.  And I have a super fun card to share with you today!

Funny story about this card.  My inspiration came, again from a magazine.  This time of a pink and gray bedroom.  All I had in mind was the color scheme.  When I was little, I had this Brooke Shields doll.  I loved everything about her, but especially her pink and gray outfit.  The only thing I could think about Sunday while I was making this card was that dang Brooke Shields doll.  Ahh, the memories.  I had so much fun playing with that doll.  Okay, enough reminiscing.  On to the card.

The card base is a larger size than normal.  It measures 4x81/2.  The reason for that being, every year we get those photo cards for our Christmas cards.  They typically send extra envelopes and I feel bad throwing these away.  Now don't go thinking I'm a hoarder.  Quite the opposite actually.  The deal is, envelopes are crafty.  I can't throw something CRAFTY away.  Anyway, these leftover envelopes hold a 4x81/2 card perfectly!
It's hard to tell in the photo, but I stamped the background with PTI's Background Basics Text Style II with CTMH white ink.
Close up of the rhinestones...
I had a lot of fun with this.  I was able to use my new dies from Papertrey (more about those later in the week)!  I hope you guys have a great Monday!  Try to do something crafty today and thanks for stopping by!

Sewing Machine Sunday!

Good morning compadres! How's it hangin?  We're doing pretty good here, enjoying our weekend to the fullest.  Mom and dad came over last night for dinner, and then the girls and I hung out since Mike was at the football game.

So, who's up for a little sewing machine adventure today?  I've been waiting for this puppy to go on sale at Target for several weeks and last Sunday was the big day!  The following is my non-scientific, completely uneducated, I know nothing about sewing review of my new machine.  Enjoy!

Warning:  Picture Heavy Post Ahead...

Here's the machine.  A Singer Tradition.  Normally $93.99 at Target, on sale for $69.  They regularly run this on sale.

Here's how it looks when it comes out of the box.  That's it.  It wasn't all wrapped up with twist ties and rubber bands.  I must be use to my kids toys.  I should say here that it was 3:30 PM when I started this and I was sure I would be sewing my first pair of pants by 4PM.
Here is the peddle.  I was really impressed with size of this thing.  I had a Janome Sew Mini before this and the peddle was half the size of this.  Set up, from the time I took the machine out of the box until the time I was ready to start working on the bobbin, was like two minutes.  New pants, here I come!

Here's the bobbin in the bobbin holder thingie.  The bobbin holder thingie is metal.  This also impressed me.  I thought all sewing machines now were plastic.
Here's another shot of the whole bobbin mechanism.  Okay, at this point I threaded my needle, pulled up the bobbin thread and was ready to sew.

It's like 3:45 PM people.  I might have time to start on a shirt and maybe a coordinating jacket!

STOP! HOLD EVERYTHING!  Something is wrong.  Something is very very wrong!  I messed around with the machine.  I tried again.  Same results.  It's 4PM.  There goes my ensemble.  I picked up the girls from school.  Dinner, dishes, baths.  Blah, blah, blah...

8:30 PM  I get Mike to help me.  He says, "Becky I know nothing about sewing machines."  I say, "but Mike, you can fix anything."  Ah ha!  It worked.  He comes downstairs, he messes with the machine, I'm ready to try again.  I get the same results.  Only this time the machine completely stops running.  Oy!  At this point, I know I need to STEP AWAY FROM THE MACHINE!

Day two, Thursday.  I have a fresh perspective.  I'm going to master this machine.  I start all over from the beginning, humming a little tune.  Telling the machine how beautiful she is.  I think this might work.

SUCCESS!  Now, as long as I don't run out of thread or need to change thread color I'll be okay!  Haha!

Have a great Sunday, thanks for stopping by!

Halloween Cards

Good Saturday morning my dears.  I hope you're all tucked in on the couch under a blanket, with a cup of coffee as you read this, because that's where I like to be on Saturday mornings.  Mike and I take turns taking Abie to tennis practice and when it's my Saturday to stay home, I get the most out of it that I can!  Mike decided to go to the MU game tonight, do I know him or what?  Ha!  But, on the flip side, our Halloween party got moved to next Saturday, so I think my mom and dad might come out for dinner instead.  I need to make a run to Costco at some point this weekend, but other than that, we have a pretty relaxed weekend planned.  What do you guys have going on?

Up for today, I have two Halloween cards I made for my girls.  I just started with kraft colored cardstock and started layering.

You'll have to excuse the photo above.  I'm going to say that my table is crooked and not that I was on the phone with Mike and taking pictures one handed...

This is the inside picture of the card. With a little place to write and a 3-D chipboard embellishment.

I had a lot of fun making these.  They took no time at all since I used pre-made embellishments and coordinating papers.  Have a great Saturday and I look forward to talking again soon!  Thanks for stopping by.

Halloween Treats...

Good morning!  Happy Friday everyone.  I'm so glad it's the end of the week.  I love my weekends so much around here.  Abie has tennis lessons tomorrow morning and then Saturday night Mike and I are supposed to go to a Halloween Party.  BUT, he got asked to go to the MU game.  Now, Mike being the humongo football fan he is, I'm guessing he's going to bail on me as my date to the party and head off to game.  I'm glad we weren't planning on dressing up as Sonny and Cher or some other famous couple.  I might look kind of silly showing up alone.  I have a bit of an update on the sewing machine for you but I'm going to save that for my Saturday post.  Stay tuned, it's quite the exciting story.

Today I have a little Halloween project I made for my girls to take to school for their parties.  Landry's is today and she couldn't be more excited.  Abie's isn't until next week.  I thought it would be easier if I just made them the same thing, but what do you make for a bunch of three year olds and eight year olds?  Bubbles!  I got this idea a few months ago from one of the Papertrey Design Team girls.  I just can't remember which one.  I tried to find a link for you but I can't seem to find it.  She used a bottle of black bubbles that she found on clearance after Halloween last year.  I couldn't find black bubbles anywhere.  What I did find was even better.... CHEAP BUBBLES!  These came 9 in a pack for $1 at the Dollar Tree in their wedding aisle.

I trimmed paper from MME Blackbird to 4 1/4 x 3/4 and put a bit of adhesive on both ends.  I wrapped the paper around and then tied a piece of ribbon around it.  So easy!

Have a great Friday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Some Inspiration....

Holy blog batman!  It's day three here at Fourth House on the Right and I'm having a blast!  I'm walking around with a big ole grin on my face from the sweet comments you all have left!  I finished up the project for the girls' fall parties, I'll post pics tomorrow, and I got my new sewing machine out of the box.  Um, I have a problem when it comes to things like sewing machines.  I'm really bad with directions, and by that I mean I don't read them.  I like to think I already know how they work and the directions are there as more of a backup.  Big mistake with a sewing machine.  Haha.  It's still a work in progress, at this point.  I'll keep you posted.  No pun intended.

For today's card, I thought I would post a picture of my inspiration.  I was flipping through Country Living Magazine and came across this picture.  I just loved the colors and thought they would make a great card.  I do this quite a bit when I'm going through magazines and I'll tear the page out of the magazine and keep it in a stack on a shelf in my craft room.  Then when I need some inspiration, I'll flip through the stack.

Here's the card that was born out of the inspiration of the above photo...

I love the way this card turned out.  It makes me happy just looking at it!  I hope you have a fabulous Thursday!  So close to the weekend...

Happy Wednesday!

What's up?  Thanks for joining me on this here second day of my blogging adventure.  I picked up TWO awesome followers yesterday!  (hi Tracy, hi Melissa!)  Isn't that cool?  Mike, my husband, got home early last night from work and he fixed dinner!  Wowza, that was a treat.  Then he took the girls outside to play, holy schmolly, what a great night it was.

Let's get on to the craft bus-naz shall we?  This is a birthday card I made for a friend awhile back.  I see all those felt embellishments at the store and they're a bit 'spensive, so I try to make my own when I can't buy them at a minimum of 50% off, haha.  So this card I used my Sizzlits cupcake die from Stampin' Up! and cut the top of the cupcake out in pink felt.  I had to run the sandwich through my Cuttlebug several times and then I trimmed up the edges a bit with my scissors, but when all was said and done, I think it turned out pretty dang cute!

Well, I guess that's it for today.  I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday.  We're in for another beautiful day here, 73 and sunny.  Couldn't ask for a more perfect fall day.  Thanks for stopping by!

First post...and a card!

Hello there!  This is my first post on the blog, and hopefully many more will follow.  I started out as a scrapbooker about four years ago but have evolved into primarily a cardmaker/papercrafter.  Recently I've had some fun with spray paint around the house, changing the color of just about anything that's not nailed down!  I'm married to my best friend, I know cliche right?  I promise, it's true.  We are quickly approaching our twelve year anniversary, next month, and we have two daughters, 8 and 3.

Now, on to the card, the reason why you've come to visit I presume.  This is a little number I made for a friend's baby shower.  She's due next month with a baby girl but I decided to go completely non-traditional with my color scheme.

On the inside, I simply adhered the gift card with a couple of glue dots.  That's about it for today.  I hope you visit me again sometime.  Thanks for stopping by!
