13th birthday Dinner Party!

Happy Monday!  Did you have a good weekend?  We had a busy weekend, but it was FUN!  We celebrated Abie's 13th birthday on Saturday with a dinner party for her friends.

Abie wrote the menu up on the chalkboard out front ;)

Here she is posing in front of the photo backdrop.  This was early in the day.

Getting the table ready!

Checking spacing, making sure everyone would have just enough room.  We used an 8ft table and fit 9 girls around it.

We ordered this awesome balloon arrangement for her centerpiece.  She loved the way it turned out!

Landry has really gotten into cooking and helped out SO much for the dinner!  Here she is working on the creamy tomato soup.

I'm not sure who was the Chef and who was the Sous Chef here...

And the birthday girl.  She was SO excited!   She borrowed a pair of my heels, so was ridiculously tall!  The girl is 5'6 in her bare feet already :)  She really wanted a tiara too.  Such a sweetheart.

The chefs, discussing something VERY important.

We made simple place cards for each of the girls, which doubled as a small party favor.

The appetizer was shrimp cocktail, huge hit!

Creamy tomato soup in bread bowls was served next, followed by Cesar salad.

There were two girls that are vegetarian, but still ate the shrimp..., so they had stuffed tomatoes for their entree.

The girls had a choice of beef or chicken, stuffed with goat cheese and spinach and a side of new potatoes.  In the invitation, Abie included a response card which the girls sent back with their choice of entree so we knew how much of each to prepare.

All of the plates, ready to serve.

And dessert, homemade chocolate mousse.

This was a team effort!  From the invitations, to decorating, to food prep to serving and clean up, but oh man, SO MUCH FUN!  A fancy dinner party for your 13th birthday party?  Awesome.

Thanks for stopping in today.  See you soon and have a super fantastic week!  :)

Birthday Invitations

Good morning and a happy new week to you!  We have a snow day here today, which derailed my plans a wee bit, but that's what snow does, isn't it?  Funny thing is, we haven't gotten any snow this year, except for a tiny bit back in November, so the weathermen, among others, are acting like this small storm is a blizzard.  People, it's going to be sunny and 40 tomorrow, it will melt away by then.

Today is a holiday for me, Lincoln's birthday, so I was off from work to begin with.  I had grand plans of getting caught up on some crafting projects and maybe some reading, but now...  :)  We'll see how the day goes.

Today I want to share with you Abie's birthday invitations for her 10 year birthday party!!!  She's really big into zebra print right now.  (anyone remember how LAST YEAR it was lime green and aqua?)  So when I saw these blank cards at Hobby Lobby a couple of months ago, I knew they would be perfect for her invites!

These were fairly quick and easy to make.   I cut out the numbers with my Cricut and then ran them trough my Xyron and sprinkled them with Martha Stewart black glitter.  How awesome is black glitter?

Then I added the Thickers and a few black rhinestones.  Done!

Okay folks, I'm out for know.  The girls are still asleep and I'm hoping to be productive before they get up.  See you again tomorrow!  Have a fab Monday!!

Slumber Party Recap

Well, we're alive.  The girls were all so good and I think they even had a good time too!  Upon arrival, I rolled out a large sheet of paper and let them go to town with markers and colored pencils and had bowls of cheese balls, Doritos and veggies for them to snack on.  Here's the finished piece...

After they finished this it was time for dinner.  We had mini pizza crusts and and all the toppings for the girls.  After dinner, they worked on decorating their wooden picture frames, which Abie had already painted their favorite colors.  We had pipe cleaners, puffy balls, googley eyes, glitter glue and other stuff for them to play around with.  This is what the kitchen table looked like after the third grade girl craft hurricane blew threw...

We also had foam door hangers for them to decorate, you can see those in the picture too.  They played the Wii and painted nails, normal slumber party stuff.  I think they fell asleep around 12:30.  Not too bad.  I think they were up around 7:30 AM though...yucky.  We did omelets in a bag for breakfast.  Mike found the recipe and it was so fun!  Pick up time was 10 AM and we spent the rest of the recovering!

I hope you all had a great weekend.  I'll be back tomorrow with a crafty project for you!  Thanks for stopping by!!!

Birthday Thank Yous

I know the party isn't until Saturday, but I'm the kind of person who likes to be prepared.  So, I already made the thank you cards for Abie to send out to her friends for coming to the party.  These came together super fast for a couple of reasons.  I already had the bases stamped from a failed project back in December.  Then I had the flower embellishments left over from the banner project that I posted yesterday.  All I had to do was stamp the sentiment and I adhere everything down and I was done!  You have to love it when a project comes together like that!

All of these slumber party ideas came together pretty easily because of the color scheme, which Abie picked out.  Sometimes picking the colors is the hardest part for me.  Thanks Abie!!

We have sure had some nice weather here.  Almost all of the snow is gone now.  There are strips and piles here and there but that's about it.  It's supposed to be 70 degrees today!!!!  I can hardly believe it (and can't wait)  I'm enjoying every minute of it and sure hope it's a sign of an early spring :)

I hope you have a beautiful day wherever you may be and thank you for stopping in to see me.  I appreciate it and all of your kind comments.  You guys are the best.

Birthday Banner

Good day ladies (and any gents that may be reading)!  Can you believe it's already Wednesday?  I feel like 2011 is flying by, we're halfway through February!  My mom always said the older you get the fast time goes and she was right.

Today I have the banner I made for Abie's birthday party.  I'll probably put it up and leave it up until her birthday, which is on the 24th, and then let her keep it in her room.

I made this with the Birthday Bash cartridge and Core'dinations paper.  I worked on it the same was I did my Valentine banner, I pulled out everything in my stash that was lime green and aqua and just went to town.  I hung it up with lime green tulle (which I love)!

All right, that's it for me today!  Have an awesome Wednesday and I'll see ya later!!!  Thanks for coming by today :)

Gearing Up!

FRI-DAY!!  Woo hoo!!!!!  I'm gearing up for Abie's big slumber party NEXT weekend.  Trying to have all the details finished ahead of time so I can relax and enjoy the party that night.  I finished up the goodie bags this week with these little flashlights...
I cut the heart shaped tag out with my Cricut and added a little rub on and some rhinestones.  I tied the whole thing on to the flashlight and LUV how cute it turned out!

To the outside of the goodie baskets, I made a tag for each one, carrying on the lime green and aqua theme, which has each girls initial on it...

I have one more Slumber Party project to share with you on Monday before the big day arrives!  I'm hoping to take pictures of some of the activities we have planned that night to share with you too.  I know most of these ideas, you could just switch the colors and stamps or rub ons and use them for a boy sleepover too!

Do you have big plans this weekend?  Today is a holiday for me (thank you Lincoln for having a birthday).  I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do today, which for me is the best kind of day.  On Sunday, we're taking the girls to World of Wheels so Abie can meet Billy from Billy the Exterminator.  It's her favorite show and she is soooooo excited!

I hope you have a fantastic Friday and a wonderful weekend!  Thanks for swinging through today!

Polka Dot smell goods :)

Well, my mild temps last week were short lived.  We're in for a huge snow storm today and are under a blizzard warning.  They're calling for 10-13" of snow in our area and up to 17" about two hours east of here.  This storm is supposed to have 20 to 40 mile per hour winds and cause 6 to 10 foot snow drifts in some areas.  I'm so excited I can hardly stand it.  ( is the sarcasm in my voice coming through?)  It's official, if it wasn't before, I'm done with winter, done with snow, done with salt, sand, cold, wind, drizzle, ice, pot holes and most of all shoveling!  I'm ready for spring!  I'm ready for birds chirping, flowers blooming, the sun shining, the smell of fresh cut grass and being able to wear short sleeves again :)

All right, enough about the weather.  Abie's slumber party is quickly approaching.  I have picked up a bunch of stuff for goodie baskets for the girls and I thought some of it would look much cuter if I dressed it up a bit with paper and stamps.  :)

I started with this:
I bought these at Walmart the week after Christmas.  They were originally $5 and I got them for $1.25, score!

I decided to dress the bottles up a bit...
I used Core'dinations paper in lime green and aqua and then stamped polka dots from PTI's Polka Dot Basics II set in Versamagic Key Lime and PTI Hawaiian Shores ink.  Then I cut out some tags on my Cricut and attached with some Martha Stuart baker's twine.  I think these look much better and they match the colors of her party too!

Well, I hope you're warm and safe, wherever you may be.  Have a great Tuesday and I'll chat with you later.  Thanks for stopping in today!

Birthday Invites

ETA:  8" and it's started to snow again.  Lightly, but still snowing....

Well, we got some more snow...  I started about noon yesterday and snowed all afternoon, through the night and stopped sometime this morning.  I'm not sure how much we got, but it's a lot people.  It sure is pretty, but I'm ready for spring!

Abie's birthday is next month and she is having her first slumber party, much to her dad's chagrin.  She's only inviting three other girls, cuz my momma always said you should have an even number so someone doesn't get left out.  I have a whole bunch of stuff planned for them but it all starts with the invites, right?  So here they are!
Stamps: PTI Round and Round
Ink:  Versamagic
Paper:  Hobby Lobby black, Core'dinations aqua and lime green
Other:  Feathers, Tulle, Embossing Folder, Rhinestones and MS Glitter

I've got some other stuff I'm making for the par-tay so there will be more projects to come on the blog in the near future!  :)  Hope you have a great Thursday and that you're all safe and warm!
