Yep, I did. You know how Mike and I had the day off together on Friday? Well we had appointments at noon to get tattoos. My first, his eighth. Yes, I said eighth :)
I've always looked at tattoos as a way for someone to express themselves, outwardly and openly. The process of tattooing is really interesting too. The tattoo artist is just that, an artist. They are crafters, just like us!
Over the last ten years or so, I knew I wanted a tattoo and I knew I wanted it to be something that represented Mike and what he means to me. Placement was important to me as well. So this first tattoo has been in the making for quite awhile. Over the last year I finally decided I wanted the tattoo behind my right ear. Now to just figure out what I wanted it to be. After much deliberation this is what I came up with...
The anchor is a traditional tattoo that a lot of people get to represent their spouse or partner. For me it represents the strength and security in our relationship. Mike makes me feel safe, and grounded :) kind of like an anchor. (excuse the greasy stuff in my hair, that's the stuff you put on the tattoo to keep it moist after you get it)
Now here's a picture of Mike's. He already had the G and the stars on this arm. He had the sugar skulls and foliage added. This is the front view of his arm.
This is the back side of his arm. He's going back in a couple of months to have a little touch up done on this.
Now, I'll tell you, it didn't hurt. It burned. When he got up on the bone, it was uncomfortable, but that was about it. Maybe it was because of where I got it? I don't know. It's only the first one, maybe getting one in a different spot would hurt? Ha!
So, that's it for today. My tattoo story :) Hope you enjoyed seeing the pics. Thanks for stopping by today! I'll see you soon!!

looks great!
ReplyDeleteYou made a great choice.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of an anchor!
My Mike and I have talked about getting U2 tattoos off and on over the years. I just am not big on pain (lol) But doesn't sound too bad.
How long did it take?
I love your tattoo! And Mike's looks very cool also!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear that it didn't hurt! That's what my big fear has always been. I can handle lots of types of pain, except needles! I think its more in my head than anything, but they scare me a lot!
You are such a brave lady! Love the meaning behind your tattoo...pretty well thought out, love that! I am too chicken to have one done. Mike's tattoo is super cool, love it as well. :)
ReplyDeleteYou're sure it didn't hurt!?!? Looks great - I'm planning on a very small one in December ... If I don't chicken out.
ReplyDeleteThey both look great!!
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted a tattoo, but it was never a priority, so guess I didn't want it bad enough.
I agree that tattoo artists are just that Artists. My daughter was asked to design one for her cousin.
They look really good!
ReplyDeletevery cool!
