Thank you card.

Good morning everyone!  Did you have a fun weekend?  Mike and I had a very interesting time on our ride :)  Saturday was a near perfect day.  Beautiful weather and we really enjoyed ourselves.  Sunday...well that was an altogether different story.  The forecast was calling for rain, but not until later in the day.  We knew we would be home by then.  We woke up to fog and thunder.  Not a good sign when you're traveling by motorcycle.  Mike had chaps and we both had our leather jackets but he didn't bring his rain gear and I didn't have any.  We left Jefferson City and headed for Sedalia, about an hours ride.  Within 15 minutes my jeans and long underwear were soaked.  I had a tube like thing covered my head (you wear it under your helmet) this was keeping my face warm and dry (thanks mom!)  By the time we got to Sedalia I was soaked to the bone!  We ran into Walmart and bought dry pants, socks and rain gear for my and a second shirt for Mike.  I then proceeded to change my clothes in the Walmart bathroom.  When I took off my wet socks, they were dripping wet and I wrung them out in TOILET!  Seriously, this is how soaked I was.  Let me tell you though, after I changed, I felt like a new woman!  We got back on the road and we were home in about an hour and a half.  Yes it was raining on us, pouring at times, yes it was cold, but I wouldn't have changed a minute of it.  It's all part of the experience of riding a motorcycle.  Mike and I had a blast together and for our first trip out of town on the Harley, it's quite the story!  I said to him, "what's the one thing we learned this weekend?"  He said, "DON'T TRAVEL WITHOUT YOUR RAIN GEAR, NO MATTER WHAT THE WEATHERMAN SAYS!!!!"  Hahahahahaha!

So, sorry about that long story, but I wanted to tell you guys about it.  Thank  you for your well wishes and you know what, we DID get home safe and for THAT we are truly grateful!

Now, on to the crafty business!  Last week I whipped up a thank you card for my mom.  She had worked on Abie's costume for the play and it was really fantastic!  I thought it was the best costume there, personally.  I need to post a pic of it, but it's on a different camera.  Maybe later this week?  Anyway, here's the card I made...

I started with a Kraft base and embossed giant white flowers on it.  I love the look of Kraft and white together.  Then I just added a smaller panel to the front and built up from there.

I popped the panel up with some foam adhesive as well as the cloud which I stamped the sentiment on.

You know, last week I was talking to a friend at work about sending a card to someone and my old supervisor said, "Do people still do that?  Send cards, I mean?"  Ack!!!!!  I kind of wanted to flick him in the back of the head :)

Okay, sorry, again, about the long post today.  Hope you have a beautiful Monday.  Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you back here tomorrow!

Glad you had a safe trip.
I was thinking of you this weekend.
Especially on Saturday night when we were in the basement due to a scary storm here.
But I have to say, it sounds like you had a great trip.
Some of my favorite memories are this kind of thing with Mike. Fun, crazy trips!

  6. I love the story of you guys on the bike, I'm glad you had such a fun weekend! That is too funny about ringing the socks out in the toilet at Wal-Mart, but you got a fun trip and a new outfit - its win win!

I totally would have flicked that man in the head! My mom and I send cards all the time! I do wish people did it more though, because its so nice to get a card in the mail instead of just junk and bills :)

That is a great thank you card! I can't wait to see Abie's costume, you have such a crafty family, I bet it looked awesome!!!
