Fall lantern redo.

Last year I picked up a couple of lanterns at Michaels for $2 apiece, in white. My plan was to paint one, but I didn't get around to it until this past weekend.

Let me tell you, painting it made ALL the difference!! I'm keeping one white, for spring/summer decorating, but I sure do love the darker, oil rubbed bronze "new" lantern.

Adventures in laminating!

I've been wanting a laminator for quite some time now. I started researching and found the Purple Cows Hot/Cold laminator 9" for $28 at Walmart.com asks I think Amazon had it for the same price. They also have a 13" size, and I debated on that or the smaller and ended up with the smaller size. The machine came with 50 sheets and was super easy to set up and use, right out of the box!

The girls made book marks, I laminated a to do list (which I had seen someone on Instagram do) I also made new dividers for my Filofax (not pictured)

For the price and ease, I don't know why I didn't pick one of these up earlier!

I also have to say, I found these Ultra Fine Tip dry erase markers and they ate pretty awesome!

Week 33 of Project Life

Morning!! Today I wanted to share week #33 of Project Life. I meant to do this last week and didn't get around to it :).

I loved the pictures from this week, because we had gone over to my sister's house and the girls talked her into making pillows. It was so cute :)

Long weekend.

Happy Tuesday!! I do love a long weekend!! This was a good one too :) Mike finished part of the trim in the basement. Woo hoo!

We went to a local fair of sorts, saw some crafts, ate some yummy and had some faces painted!!

The girls and I spent quite a bit of time in the craft room too. Reorganizing and crafting :)

Project Life week 31.

Hello Monday, man you sure showed up fast! We had a great weekend. It was our last one before school starts this week, I can hardly believe summer vacation is almost over. There is just something so free about our schedule during the summer, and I love that!

Today I wanted to share Project Life, week #31. This was my last week of my old job, first week of my new job and I included an insert with the acceptance of my resignation letter and then some handouts from my new job ( no picture)

Hello Wednesday!! I can hardly believe how fast this week is going by!! It's already Wednesday and my kids start school in a week!!

Project Life week #30

Happy Monday!! Did you have a good weekend? We celebrated my new job Friday night, woot woot !! Them on Saturday we volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House, by fixing a meal. Mike is running on their team again for the Chicago Marathon and so he and some of his co- workers, and their families, got together and worked at the house Saturday. We had such a great time!! On Sunday, we got a few things done around the house, did some school shopping, almost a week until they start here, and some much needed relaxation!!

Today I'm sharing week 30 of my Project Life. This was the week we were on vacation. I picked out three photos from our trip, and the rest I will include in a separate album. How do you incorporate vacations into your scrapbooking? Do you do separate albums?

That's it for me today. I'm headed off to work in a few. My first FULL week at the new job. Still in training for the next two and a half weeks, lots to learn with this insurance stuff, but so far so good!!

Big news!!

Happy, happy Friday!! On Monday I told you I would be back with some big news. So here I am. Are you ready?

A lot of you already know, from Facebook or Instagram, but, after 15 years, I quit my job and have started a new one this week!!

I graduated from college with a bachelors in Criminal Justice and have spent the last 15 years in that field, in the same office even! I was experiencing major burnout and realized it was time for me to move on.

I was lucky enough to find a job with a health insurance company, that is closer to my house, has a positive work environment, friendly staff, I could go on and on :)

I am thrilled to be in the position I am and headed on this new adventure!! It's a little scary, I know little about health insurance, except that I have it ;) haha!

In crafty news, I'm sharing a card today. It's a 4x4

Back from vacation!!

We were on vacation last week and I wanted to share a few pictures with you guys!!  We took the girls on a cruise to the Bahamas and it was wonderful.  They are great little travelers and had such an awesome time.  We can't wait to go again!!

I ordered the smoked duck.  Then we shared.  Both were delicious!  These were the only pictures of dinner I got while we there.

Every night the room steward would have a different towel animal on the bed for us and the girls loved them!!

This was Port Lucaya beach in Freeport.  I forgot my swimsuit bottoms and ended up getting in the ocean in my shorts.  It was worth it though.

One day we were at sea all day and we went to brunch.  Here is a picture of Huevos Rancheros and Steak (fillet minon) and eggs.  Yum!

Mike and I went on a cruise for our honeymoon, almost 16 years ago. If you've never been before, it's a strange feeling, in the middle of the ocean.  You have no control over anything, yet it's so peaceful.  Pretty cool.

 
Mike was on a game show on the boat and he won!!  They gave him a bottle of champagne and a trophy.

The girls favorite thing was the frozen yogurt machine.  They would have a cone after every meal.  Even breakfast! This is a picture of their last one.

Here they are on the plane, sacked out on each other, on the way home.  Traveling is exhausting.

We had such a wonderful time and have already been looking at cruises for next year!!  I hope you had a great week last week and I'll be back in a day or two with some exciting news and a new card!

Today I wanted to share the thank yous Landry and I made after her birthday party.

I love the way these turned out. I had seen a criss cross card on Pinterest  and this is what the insert look looked. Rather than making 13 of the criss cross cards, we just made the simple inserts for this project.

Crazy for mini notebooks.

Good grief it's already Thursday, how did that happen?  We are definitely enjoying summer here.  Lots of swimming and volleyball going on :)  I hope you're enjoying your summer too.

Lately I've had a thing for mini notebooks.  I've always love notebooks and writing down lists and I've always loved having a cute little book to write it down in.

This is a mini composition book which I covered in patterned paper, and then to disguise the seams, I added washi tape on the spine.  I added a little label on the front too!

For the inside pages, I pulled a TRACY and added washi tape to the edges of the inside sheets.  I LOVE how this turned out.  I tried doing this on a large composition notebook and it took freaking forever!  This one was much more doable, for me :)  I noticed that Michael's has some medium sized composition notebooks in their $1 $1.50 aisle.  They've got me thinking...  Haha!

Now this book Abie made, out of a cereal box!  I LOVE it too!!  She trimmed the box to the size of the cover she wanted, trimmed the inside pages...

And we bound it together by punching two holes and tying some string through it.  She covered the string binding, on the outside, by covering it with patterned paper .

Finally I have a book that I made several years ago, you can see the original post HERE.  I've never really used it, but saw on Pinterest where someone covered the cover in washi.  I made quick work of covering the front and back of this notebook and I started using it for house projects!  (Mike is less than thrilled, haha).

Pretty pink pocket and clay food.

Fourth of July pocket.

Good morning!! Hope you are all doing well :) I'm pretty excited about the short work week!!

In honor of the upcoming holiday, I crated a fun little pocket. I've been inspired by Melissa Phillips and Michelle Wooderson lately and this is what I've come up with.

I used a little mini sack, from Valentine's Day, that I picked up at Michael's. I folded the sack in half and stapled the sides, then decorated the front. I love how this turned out!!
