Well, right before the fourth of July, I had a brainstorm. I had seen tons of frames turned into chalkboards and I thought, why not buy a GIANT frame and use that as my chalkboard? I headed to Hobby Lobby and picked up this frame.
I found this picture, originally $59.99, marked down to $6. I brought it home, took the back off, glass out and sanded the shine off. Then I took yellow acrylic paint and watered it down a bit. I dry brushed it on the frame for a more weathered look.
Mike cut a piece of board to fit the frame and I put three, or maybe four, coats of chalkboard paint on it. Then I tied a piece of chalk to the frame with some baker's twine and wrote a message!
I love my new front porch chalkboard and all for only $6!
Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you have a great Tuesday! I'll see you all tomorrow!!

ReplyDeleteWe did the same thing for the wedding. I couldn't find chalkboard I liked, so I used a frame and painted chalkboard paint onto the glass. I'm so much happier with the handmade ones than the ones I saw in the store!
This is such a great idea for the front porch!
