A little more about the balsa wood.

Friday!!!  Woot woot!!  I'm so happy it's Friday and can't wait for the workday to get over :)  It's been a busy, yet productive, work week and I'm really looking forward to the weekend.

Yesterday I posted about a card I made using balsa wood.  Today I wanted to show you, a little more in depth, how I did that.

This is the balsa wood I bought.  I picked it up at Michael's for a couple of dollars in the wood aisle.  They had several different types and I just sort of picked one at random.

I just used my Tim Holtz scissors to trim the wood and it worked perfectly!!

I used Momento ink a red rubber stamp.

Here's the finished, stamped piece of wood!

I have visions of misted wood, distressed wood, strips of wood.  All kinds of ideas.

So, do you have big plans for Father's Day weekend?  Mike's work picnic is on Saturday and we're going to take it easy on Sunday.  I'm hoping to get some crafty time at some point.

Hope you have a beautiful Friday and a wonderful weekend!  See you soon :)

  1. Oh I am so going to try this! Thanks for sharing!

  2. Fantastic, great idea to use this for a card, it's so tactile! x

  3. This is so cool! I hope you have a great time at Mike's picnic and on Father's Day! We don't have too many plans, just book club on Saturday, which really means just hanging out with the girls and eating desserts!

  4. A Father's Day picnic sounds like such fun :)
Love the wood on your card, perfect for a manly card, great tutorial :)
Yes I did remember my paper trimmer, but it still didn't go so smoothly, lol.

  5. Love the idea of a fathers day picnic... It rained here all weekend. love the cards and thanks so much for sharing.
