Happy 2012!

Happy New Year everyone!  Did you ring in 2012 in a grand way like me?  Haha :)  We spent our evening in the most perfect of ways, at home, with movies and snacks a low key night with my parents.  At midnight (I stole Tracy's idea) and opened up the back door, to let the old year out, and the front door, to let the new year in.  I just love that idea!

We headed over to mom and dad's on Sunday afternoon for our annual Black Eyed Peas and then we went over to our old neighbors house and spent some time with them.  It was a great way to spend the first day of the new year :)

Yesterday, I finally got down to my craft room and got to work on my layouts.  I got A LOT accomplished.  In fact, I only have one more from 2011 to complete and then I can devote myself completely to 2012 and Project Life.  Do you know how good that feels?  Pretty amazing!

My trick for getting so much accomplished in the layout department?  Pebbles Inc divided page protectors.

I bought these last year at Hobby Lobby and they make for super quick layouts!  I paired them with some pre-made 4x6 Halloween cards and let me tell ya, I sort of felt like I was making a Project Life layout.  Ha!

Just a few simple embellishments...

And some cardstock stickers :)

I was able to whip out MONTHS of pictures in just a couple of hours.  It was awesome!

Do you have any surefire tips for getting yourself caught up when you're behind?  Maybe not just on layouts, but on other craft projects?

I'm heading back to work today.  It's been so nice to be at home this last week and a half and I can't believe it's over already.  The girls are both ready to go back, and seem excited, so that makes me happy.

I hope you have a wonderful Tuesday.  Thanks for stopping by today and I'll see you tomorrow :)

  1. I'm checking out those page protectors. I'm reeeally behind on layouts and could use all the help I can get. I loved Tracy's idea, too and hope I can remember to do that next New Year's. Have a great 2012!

  2. sounds like a perfect weekend and holiday!

glad you got some pages done! I am behind in my scrappin--still scrappin june--but i really don't care-hehhe--i figure as long as i keep my photos and journaling notes i can scrap them whenever! I have really relaxed now that i switched to 3 ring binders. i figure i have my whole life to scrap and once the kids get bigger i am sure they won't want the camera in their face like they do now!

i have decided to do project life! i don't have anything --amazon sold oout on page protectors etc- but i bought a journal and i have started photos and journaling! pretty excited!

  4. Hi!! I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas and New Years. Adorable layouts. It must feel so good to be caught up!

My 5k training has been on hold for a few weeks due to tendonitis in my ankle, ouch! But I hope to get back to it soon, although I am afraid I will be starting from scratch.

I will have to do some searching on Project Life. I have seen a lot of posts about it but not 100% sure what it is.

  5. That sounds like such a nice New Years! I love the front door/back door idea, but I don't have back door here! I'll have to save that for when I get a house :)

That is a great layout! You are so lucky that you got lots of crafting done. Unfortunately, I was sick, and didn't get a thing done but laying on the couch. Well, I did manage to get the Christmas decorations down, but it was too much and knocked me out for the rest of the day! Maybe I'll be able to do some crafting after work, I'm just itching to sit down at my desk and do something! I have some of those divided pages, maybe I should try them out!

  7. I love how you got caught up...how do I get caught up...I don't, lol.
I used to (with my film camera) put my photos in page protectors like this and journal under them..I didn't even realize I was scrapbooking;)
So neat that you let in the new year and let out the old as we do here :)
Good luck with my give away.

  8. Caught up? What's that? lol. I don't think I will ever be caught up. I'll need to sit down for months without any interruptions to just make a dent. I have a bunch of those page protectors...maybe I should use them.

  9. Wow Becky!! I can't imagine being caught up! I don't know that I'll ever get there. ;) Love those divided page protectors-I used those a lot in Moose's baby album, since we took sooo many pictures! I'm super excited about starting PL fresh too!
