Kitchen Christmas

Good morning!  I trust you all had a good Monday, and here we are on the last day of November already.  I can hardly believe how fast this year has gone by.  I picked up the stuffing for our advent calendar last night and got the boxes filled, just in the nick of time!  The girls are chomping at the bit to start counting down the days!  Once we get going on it, I'll snap a pic and get it posted.

Today I thought I'd share a couple of photos of the making of our new addition Christmas tree this year.  It started as a log, in a yard.  It came from an old neighbor.  Her mom just wrapped the log with garland and lights, how smart was that?  She stapled it right on to the log!  Mike made a simple square base out of MDF and painted it a neutral color.  All that was left was to decorate it!

I picked up this package of cookie cutters at Joann's.  It has 40, the most I've found.  (Hobby Lobby only had 25 in their package, but I'm not sure how much theirs cost)  Anyway, Joann's was $19.99!!!  YIKES!  Crazy expensive, so I used a 50% off coupon!

Then, I simply tied some thicker twine around the cookie cutters and hung them all over the tree.  Abie and Landry worked on a red, green and white paper chain while I tied the twine.  (whew, say that five times real fast)

And the finished product again!  I thought about popcorn garland, but good grief, I would end up eating the popcorn and probably pricking my fingers more times than I care to think about!  I'm embroidering some tea towels right now and that's enough finger pricking for me right now!

Hope you have a great Tuesday!  Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you tomorrow!
