New (to us) coffe table.
You know last July we got Dirk. He was about 8 months old then and while not a baby, he still had plenty of puppy left in him. About a month after we had him, he ripped into our storage ottoman. Wah wah. I had grand plans of reupholstering said ottoman, but then started adding up the cost and figured we should just buy a new table for the price of fabric. I scrapped that plan and decided I would look for a table at a thrift store, that was sturdy, that we could refinish ourselves. I had a strict budget of $20!
This is what we found a week an a half ago.
It looks pretty rough, right? But it is super sturdy and it was only $14.96!!!! Under budget! That NEVER happens! We found it at Goodwill, stood and stared at it for awhile, went and ate lunch, talked about it and then went back and bought it.
Then next day, Mike sanded the table and put two coats of white paint all over.
This was just after the first coat of white. At this point we were planning on adding a glaze, which we've done to the cabinets in our house, but it was too brown. So Mike said, how about grey? We ran to Home Depot and bought a $3 sample size of paint and he mixed a little with water, painted it on and then wiped it off to give it a distressed look.
On Monday, Abie and I moved the table into the house. I don't have a picture of that... It sat like that until Saturday, nearly finished. The panels were empty, we knew what we were doing with them, we just didn't have the time to work on them. So on Saturday, Mike cut the hardboard to size and Abie and I added batting and fabric.
Here is the finished product.
What do you think? Not too bad for a $15 table from Goodwill! We already have an idea to change it up when we get tire of this :)
Have you added any new (to you) furniture lately?
Thanks for popping in today! Have a fab Wednesday and I'll see you soon!

I hope you have a wonderful Monday and I appreciate the visit. I'm hoping to get a larger post typed up Wednesday, the project Mike and I were working on last week and finally finished Saturday!! Thanks for stopping by!!

Sister card
Happy weekend eve!! For being a short work week, I feel like it should already be Friday!!
Today I wanted to share a card with you that I made for Abie, even though I haven't given it to her yet. Awhile back she was having some problems with some girls at school and I happened to run across this journaling card that was perfect and reinforced everything I was telling her :)
I rounded the corners of the card and used my spiral tab punch to add a little something extra and make it look not so journal card-ish.
I hope you're having a good week!! Thanks for stopping by today :)

One layer graduation card.
Happy weekend eve!! Today I wanted to share a graduation card with you that I made for an open house we went to last weekend.
Usually when we go to these types of events, we get the traditional school announcement, but this time we got a really awesome 5x7 card with different photos of the graduate and fun quotes, with the information about the open house on the back.
Since it was a little different, I didn't have the colors of the school, so I had to wing it ;). In hindsight, I guess I could have googled the school colors, right? Anyway, I used my one, and only, graduation set, and got to work!!
Thanks for popping in today! Hope you have a fab Thursday friends!!

Matching boy birthday tags.
The birthday party the girls went to was for two of our neighbors. I have a hard time finding boy gifts and making boy cards, etc. So I ended up picking up both of them water balloon launchers and new swim trunks, because you can never have enough swim trunks (or swim suits) (or pajamas) (or chocolate) Since their gifts were matching, I made their tags *sort of* matching too.
See, matching, but not :)
On Sunday we stayed home, but were busy getting projects done around the house. The weather was gorgeous and we spent almost ALL day outside. We have a busy week, Royals game, another open gym, family from out of town coming in and most importantly THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!! It should be an awesome week!!
I hope things are great where you are and I'll be back soon with a graduation card. Thanks for stopping by today!

I found this gift card and just loved the colors so I drew from that.
I hope you're having a great week!! I have a few more things to share this week, so until then, have an awesome Wednesday!!

Teacher appreciation day.
Good morning!! Did you have a good weekend? We were super productive and got all of our painting done! I still need to pick up some new towels for the girls bathroom and there's another shelf I want to hang in my craft room, but other than that, everything is back to normal :)
This week is teacher appreciation week at Landry's school. I picked up some tulips for her and we put then in an old pop bottle. Then I made a tag and tied it on with twine. I love how this turned out!
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you have a beautiful Tuesday!

Birthday, or any day, tag
Happy weekend eve!! This week has really drug on for me. It's been kind of cold and rainy here, which hasn't helped matters, but the weather is turning around today!!
Tuesday night we had a birthday party for one of our neighbors and I whipped up a quick tag for his present. The piece I trimmed out that has the sentiment on it had pre printed washi tape and it didn't match the rest of the tag at all. So, I covered it up with black washi tape to help it blend in better.
This weekend we are painting the girls bathroom and the craft room, which will probably eat into my crafting time. Hopefully I'll have pictures of the finished rooms to share though!!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful Thursday and an awesome weekend!!

New tag.
I used some Prima patterned paper for the background, MME stickers, Heidi Swapp borders and I can't remember where the canvas letters cam from. I love how happy and springy this tag is :)
We had a wonderful weekend! Lots and lots of time outside, bike riding, family time, it was great! I hope you had a great weekend too!
Thanks for stopping by today! Have an awesome Monday friends!

Pretty paperclips!!
Happy Friday everyone! Today I want to share with you some pretty paperclips I whipped up. A couple are brads and a couple are adhesive backed embellishments.
I simply hot glued the embellishment to the paper clip and then quickly added a felt flower to the back to add some stability. These are great for my planner, a card or a scrapbook page!
Do you have big Easter plans this weekend? I think we are actually celebrating tomorrow, they are calling for rain Sunday so we will just do something with the girls on that day :)
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!! Thanks for stopping by!!

Candy Sundae
Another week. Can you believe it? Already starting the third week of April.
Last week Abie's friend, who LOVES candy, was having a birthday so we whipped up this fun candy sundae for her.
It was definitely a family project. Mike bought the supplies, I started the project, Landry pulled the ends of the Tootsie rolls straight and Abie glued, and glued and glued rows of Tootsie rolls!
It turned out adorable!!
Pardon the photo bomb from Mike ;). Hope you have an awesome Monday!!

New card.
Hey there!! I meant to get this posted last Friday and I just haven't gotten around to it until now.
I picked up a package of doilies at Michaels about a month ago or so and I've been so excited to try them out!!
Hope you are doing well. Things are good here. Abie had her last tournament Sunday, but we've had something going on every night this week still. How does that happen??
I have a fun project I want to share to. Hopefully I'll get that posted early next week!! Until then, have an awesome day and I appreciate the visit :)

Red Velvet White Chocolate Chip Cookies.
For our wedding, over 15 years ago, we got a four ingredient cookbook. Every single recipe in this book has four ingredients. I've only made a handful of them, but the one I make over and over is the chocolate chip cookie recipe on page I-100. See, I make it so much I have the page number memorized.
The original recipe calls for:
1 box yellow cake mix
2 eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
6 ounces chocolate chips
These are our favorite chocolate chip cookies and we literally wait by the oven until they come out so we can eat them. They are so easy and we always have the ingredients on hand.
Over the years I've tried different flavored cake mixes; chocolate, white, etc. but I had the idea Sunday to use a Red Velvet cake mix and white chocolate chips!
1 box Red Velvet cake mix
1/2 cup oil
2 eggs
6 ounces white chocolate chips (12 ounce bag pictured, save the other half bag for another batch!)
Mix cake mix, eggs and oil until moistened. This works best with the help of a precious six year old :)
Stir in chocolate chips. This works best with the help of a sweet 12 year old :)
Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes. I bake mine on parchment paper for easy removal.
I was able to get 28 cookies out of one cake mix. Enjoy your cookies!!
Do you have a favorite cookie or dessert recipe that you always make for your family?
Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!! I'll be back Friday with a new card.
